Sports in many countries has created jobs opportunities for
millions of teaming youths, thereby taking them off the streets and giving them
a sense of belonging and therefore reducing the rate of unemployment in various
countries.
Sports like basketball, volleyball, handball, football,
rugby, long tennis, boxing, wrestling, hockey and American soccer just to
mention a few has created jobs for millions of youth out there.
About 200million youths are involved in all this sports,
some of them have used there various talent to make themselves rich and famous,
the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in the football scene have done tremendously
well for themselves while Novak Djokovic , Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have
been amazing in the world of tennis.
So many others have been excellent in
their chosen sports, back home in Nigeria, our young boys and girls have shown
great talent but often time they fall short of what it takes to become a
superstar. This is partly because of the fact that they lack the proper
training to succeed at the highest level.
Government on their own part need to give other sports the
same desired attention as football. They should invest in sports like
volleyball, handball, basketball, long tennis, golf and athletics; this would
go a long way to help reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
Nigerian has shown great talent and desire in the world of
boxing, wrestling, weight lifting and taekwondo.
These sports should be given
the necessary attention and supports that it needs so that those upcoming
sports men and women can be encouraged to give their best and make themselves
and their country proud.
Government should make sports attractive enough so that
people can choose sports as their career part. In some countries, sports
facilities are built were children and adult are taught how to develop
themselves in different sports.
Academics can be created and experienced coaches employed to
guide and train them to become professionals. These I think will go a long way
to reduce unemployment in the country.
